World Voice Day 2018

Within the framework of World Voice Day (celebrated since 1999), on the 16th of April, 2018, in Istanbul (Turkey), the seminar “Occupational voice's health” was organized. The coordinator of which became the head of Turkish department of the European Union of Phoniatrists, Professor Dr. S. Akbulut, expert-otorhinolaryngologist in the treatment and voice apparatus diseases prevention. Istanbul Technical University was chosen as a discussion platform. The event had scientific and educational character, combined phoniatrists, phonopediatricians, physiotherapists, vocalists, vocal teachers, engineers of acoustics, sound engineers, heads of otorhinolaryngology clinics, postgraduates, students as well as representatives of interested public. Before the beginning of the program the choir of the Turkish State Music Conservatory gave the performance. Taking into consideration that a voice is one of the “working tools” for representatives of a significant number of professions, all the reporters noted the necessity of further studying of different aspects of voice phenomenon in order to prevent phoniatric diseases among professionals of voice. On the occasion of World Voice Day on the 16th of April, one-day School of healthy voice took place in Volgograd. The event was organized with the participation of our Institute and supported by Committee of Culture of Volgograd region, Volgograd State Institute of Arts and Culture, company “Alpen Pharma” (official representative of pharmaceutical brand ISLA in Russia), Russian Public Voice Academy.

This meeting was held by senior researcher of the Laboratory of labor physiology and preventive ergonomics of the department for the study of hygienic problems in occupational health of our Institute, PhD, assistant professor, president of Russian Public Voice Academy, specialist in otorhinolaryngology and phoniatry, L. Rudin.

The meeting hall of Volgograd State Institute of Arts and Culture gathered about 80 people. Interactive communication lasted 5 hours and a half! During this time the issues of physiology and hygiene of voice, main causes of dysphonia, the fundamentals of vocal pedagogy were discussed. Traditionally the interest to these problems was unlimited, doctor Rudin answered numerous questions. The participants of the School expressed their hope to continue the cooperation in that form.


19-20 April, 2018, in Istanbul (Turkey) within the framework of World Voice Day (celebrated since 1999), Symposium of the same name was held on the basis of Marmara University. The initiator of the event was coordinator of World Voice Day in Turkey Professor Dr. K. Yelken. More than 50 turkish specialists in the sphere of phoniatry and voice hygiene, as well as their assistants were invited. The audience consisted of practicing doctors in the sphere of otorhinolaryngology and phoniatry, providing emergency and planned surgical care for acute diseases of the voice apparatus, including professional genesis, and voice-therapy which prevents and cures different phoniatry disorders.
